Community Outreach Service Programs
Historically, the Woman's Club determined needs throughout the community and found ways to meet those needs. Today, the Club continues to identify needs and find ways to help. Financial contributions are given on a yearly basis to 14+ local community agencies and organizations. Want to find a way to help out? Please contact us at: email@example.com
Community Outreach Day
Our Resource & Health Fair, free to the public, is an annual event offering information about local health & resource agency services. To improve health literacy throughout the community, we bring together health service-related agencies that provide information on low-cost or free food, clothing, utilities, child care, & drug abuse help available locally. Local business donations help support Community Outreach Day Resource & Health Fair.
WNMU Student Scholarships
Yearly, we award two $1,000 scholarships to students at Western New Mexico University. Students submit a short bio and a transcript to the Woman's Club Scholarship Committee.

Warm Clothing for Seniors
In November, for our Senior Shower, members donate warm men's & women's clothing: coats, sweaters, pants, sweat shirts, robes, knee-high socks, slippers, dresses, gloves, hats, blankets, & incontinence supplies. Many low income seniors need warm winter items. Yearly, around $400 in items are distributed through Grant County Senior Services, Adult Protective Services and The Volunteer Center.
Gift Cards for Cancer Patients
SC Woman’s Club member Vera MacGregor volunteered at the GRMC Cancer Center for many years. As a volunteer she saw that a cancer diagnosis can be financially devastating to patients and families, even with good medical insurance. Vera began the WalMart Gift Card program to help with groceries, medical supplies, or a prescription co-pay. We let them know we care.
Goods & Food Collection/Distribution
White Socks are provided to Free Foot Clinics offered by the WNMU College of Nursing. Toiletries, toothpaste, toothbrushes are provided to other agencies. Non-perishable food donations are collected at monthly Club meetings, the 2nd Friday of each month and delivered to The Volunteer Center Food Pantry for distribution. Excess garden produce is also welcome.
School Hearing & Vision Testing
Each fall, members travel to elementary schools in Grant and Hidalgo Counties, testing vision of all children up to age six - Head Start, kindergarten and first grade. The vision and hearing testing is an important service the Silver City Woman's Club provides to our community, and it's fun too. Come and join us.
School Supply Donations
Each summer, our school supply drive receives notebooks, paper, pencils, pens, rulers, jump drives, back packs, staplers, children's books & much more. We accept cash donations to buy items needed in high schools and grammar schools. The public is invited to attend a school supply give away once per year as the school year approaches. Dates very, but generally scheduled for the last Saturday of July, at the club’s historic club house. When school begins, teachers pick up supplies for up to 18 schools.
School Supply Drive runs June 1 to July 29, 2017. Distribution Day, July 29, 2017 from 10-2 pm.
